Shingle roofing has been used around the world for hundreds of years, there are examples of shingle roofs a hundred years old and still in good shape.

The roof is one of the most visible forms seen in any resort or in fact any pitched roof structure, the selection of roof finish greatly influences the perception of the entire development.

Currently we are witnessing an increasing trend toward shingle roofing, where Developers and individuals are investing in a quality natural roofing product which enhances the feel of the structure, whilst providing low maintenance and a well insulated and weather proof roof covering.

Venturer is an established leading shingle roofing expert, responsible for thousands of square metres of various products installed in numerous regions.

Our services include:
 
     
  DESIGN AND CONSULTANCY
     
 
Full detailing and Design in accordance with industry standards, and modified standards for tropical environments, including vented and breathing roof construction.

Over the years we have designed, supplied and installed thousands of square metres of various shingle products in numerous regions including Singapore, Maldives, Seychelles and Hawaii, and currently in the Middle east, products are principally split into two categories; Cedar and Ironwood.
 
     
  SUPPLY  
     
 
We are very familiar with both Cedar and Ironwood roofing products, as summarized below, each is different in appearance and performance which applies to different project applications.

We specify two main categories of shingle products;
 
     
  CEDAR SHAKES AND SHINGLES  
     
  Species: Western Red Cedar
Origin: North America
Density: 450 kg /m3
Treatment: CCA and Kiln Dried
Warranty with treatment: 25 Years against rot and decay.

Products: Hand split and Resawn random width Shakes (Rustic appearance)
Taper sawn Shingles in 18 and 24 lengths. (smooth sawn finish)
Grades available No#1 (Quarter sawn) to No#3 ,(flat sawn)

Advantages: Large volumes available Ex-stock with 60 days indent time
Easy to nail and install.
Large variety and grades available to suit different tastes and budgets.
Wide pieces are possible.

Disadvantages: Low grade products tend to warp unless the exposure is very tight
In the long term the product can become brittle if walked on.
The product is not very durable unless treated.
 
     
  IRONWOOD SHINGLES
     
  Species: Borneo Ironwood
Origin: Malaysia
Density ; 900 kg /M3
Treatment: Not required as extremely durable.
Warranty: 25 years against rot and decay.

Products: Traditional flat shingles 5mm thick available square or pointed ends
Taper sawn Shingles 600mm long up to 120mm wide.
All No#1 Grade.

Advantages: Extremely naturally durable, not requiring any harmful treatment.
Distinguished hardwood appearance as it is a very dense material.
Will not become brittle over time.
Weathering very consistent (slate grey).
Good value for local projects, due to low freight rates.

Disadvantages: Large projects are manufactured to order, longer lead period required
Timber needs to be pre drilled prior to installation (factory boring available)
Only No# 1 products available, economy achieved by maximizing the exposure.
 
     
  INSTALLATION  
     
 
Over the years we have developed a competent team of Installers who are familiar with a variety of products and roof forms, including low pitch applications and curved roofs and decorative wall paneling.

Good installation is important so that correct flashing details, underlay, exposure and alignment is adhered to.

Where it is not practical for our teams to install we are able to provide supervision to ensure our products are installed correctly and economically.
