A qualified timber consultant comes in various forms.

Our interpretation is an organisation with one foot in the Forest, and another in The Designers office.

An understanding of timber itself is not complete, unless fully integrated with market availability, structural analysis, technical innovation, pricing factors and flare for design.

Our accomplished timber construction, production & manufacturing background has contributed to our practical timber design and consultancy ability.

Consultancy work is normally integral in our supply and installation work. However, we are willing to provide pure consultancy work.

Projects in hand include several in the Maldives, Hawaii, Middle East, Singapore and Europe. This involves the compilation of specifications and details for Architects and Developers.

Our summarised scope of services includes.;

COMPREHENSIVE CONSULTANCY

Selection of Material


	Environmental factors – Procurement policy consultation, availability and costs from certified sources;
	Species selection and appraisal for performance, cost and aesthetics

Concept Design


	All forms of timber structures and external timber features, including budgetary factors.

Detail Design


	Member sizing and detailing, concealed and exposed connection methods including Professional Engineer calculations and submission.

Detail design


	Member sizing, connection methods including professional engineer calculations and submission.

Modular Prefabricated Design


	Structural support systems, and modular frame construction, boardwalk, decking systems and natural roofing systems;
	Rationalisation of designs in order to modularise and factory fabricate.

Research and Development


	Appraisal of new technology, including engineered timber, lamination techniques and new treatments;
	Compiling performance specifications and criteria for testing, including manufacture mock ups.

CONSULTANTS

Kevin Hill - Principal consultant


	Kevin is British and has resided in Singapore for nearly 15 years. He is the founder of Venturer Pte Ltd. He is also a Chartered Builder and a member of the Facility of Building in the U.K. Over these years, Kevin has developed an intimate knowledge of timber in terms of materials, new technology & practical construction. He regularly consults numerous Architects and Developers. Kevin is a member of the World Bank FLEG (Forest Law Enforcement and Governance) Advisory Group to the Task Force established during the Bali Ministerial Conference in September 2001. The task force has been established specifically to tackle the rampant problem of illegal logging. The Advisory group consist of leading Environmental NGO’s, including Green Peace, EIA, Forest Trends, UNU-IAS, Global witness and a variety of local NGO’s in producing countries. Our expertise has a valuable contribution because we are one of the few advisory group members who have an industry background. We have been instrumental in developing market driven initiatives aimed at eradicating illegal timber from the supply chain.

Tay Aik Jiun, Victor – Professional Engineer (Singapore)


	Victor is Singaporean and has worked with Venturer on numerous projects, including the Maldives. He is familiar with a variety of timber species and connection techniques we adopt.

Made Dharmendra – In House Architect


	Made is Balinese. He is familiar with traditional Indonesian timber Architecture and construction. Made recently spent 8 months in the Maldives as the supervising Architect for the installation of 130 prefabricated guest rooms at our Kerzner One & Only Reethi Rah Resort project.

Ronald Moss – Industry Expert


	Ronald has worked with us for nearly 10 years. He is a Singaporean who resides in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Ronald is a leading expert in a diverse variety of timber species. Ronald is a registered timber grader and has over the past 30 years gained a high degree of knowledge in all aspects of forestry, manufacturing and timber trading.

Mr. Mun Soon IL – Industry Expert


	Mun is a lamination and timber treatment specialist, a master saw miller and manufacturing expert. Mun, a Korean residing in Kota Kinabalu has 30 years of valuable expertise gained in the above fields. Mun is a specialist in the Japanese market which demands a high emphasis on quality.

Alan Brian Smith – Industry Expert


	Alan has resided in Singapore for more than 30 years and has vast experience in many aspects of the timber industry. Alan is a specialist in the commercial applications of lesser known species, including plantation species. Alan pioneered the Development of Rubber wood as a commercial species, and is currently working with us developing applications for Acacia Magnium a hybrid plantation species.

Andrew Young – Environmental Consultant


	Andrew is a qualified in environmental science and has resided in Singapore for more than 10 years. He has a background with Bintan Resorts where he was in charge of master planning and waste management projects. Andrew has worked with Kevin for the past 2 years in developing the Certisource™ Industry initiative to combat illegal logging.
